Prompt 3: Questions for Dr. Payne
If you had the
opportunity to visit with Dr. Payne over coffee, what are two open-ended
questions you would likely ask her regarding the framework?
Question 1 – Why is it that people in poverty would rather
spend $200 on a piece of clothing than groceries for the month? I have seen so many of my students’ parents
have designer clothing, but openly say they don’t have money for food this
month or enough money to get their car repaired. Why is image more important
than feeding their child dinner?
Question 2 - How do
you begin teaching young children (5 & 6 year olds) about the hidden rules
of the various classes and how they can change their lives by knowing the
hidden rules? This is a very complex, yet
important idea for them to understand.
This is difficult especially when I am trying to teach them to be
accepting of people who are different (ex. Handicapped, Race, Culture).
